Technical consulting for industrial extraction connects the production process to a system that can be built, commissioned and maintained. It prevents equipment from being selected only from nominal airflow or catalogue size and ensures that capture, ducting, filtration, fans, controls and safety measures work as one installation.
1. Analyse the industrial process
The review identifies machines, workstations, production cycles, simultaneous demand, materials, operator movement and available space. Existing measurements and problems are documented rather than assumed.
2. Identify contaminants and risks
Dry dust, chips, fine fume, oil mist, overspray and vapours require different capture and treatment. Temperature, moisture, abrasion, corrosivity, combustibility and ignition sources are evaluated from process and material data.
3. Establish performance requirements
Each source receives a capture objective and airflow basis. Requirements also include material transport velocity, discharge or recirculation constraints, building pressure, noise, maintenance access and any applicable exposure or environmental criteria.
4. Develop the technical design
The design defines hood geometry, branch airflows, duct diameters, pressure losses, treatment stages, fan duty, make-up air and control logic. Layout drawings coordinate the installation with structures, utilities, access routes and machine maintenance.
5. Select equipment
Filters, cyclones, fans, gates, duct components and discharge equipment are selected for the calculated duty and contaminant properties. Service access and consumable handling are considered at the same time as initial performance.
6. Integrate with existing production
New extraction must not unintentionally disturb HVAC balance, coating airflow, machine operation or adjacent processes. Installation is phased around production, and interfaces with existing controls are defined before site work.
7. Install, test and commission
After installation, the network is inspected and balanced. Airflow, pressure, filter operation, fan condition, gates, alarms and safety functions are tested under representative operating states. Deviations are corrected at the source rather than hidden through excessive fan speed.
8. Train and maintain
Operators learn how to position movable capture devices and recognise loss of performance. Maintenance staff receive baseline readings, inspection points, filter criteria and control sequences. Documentation reflects the installed system.
Benefits of a complete consulting process
- equipment capacity is tied to real process demand;
- technical risks are identified before fabrication;
- energy and maintenance are considered over the lifecycle;
- the installed system has measurable acceptance criteria;
- future production changes can be evaluated against documented capacity.
