Rotary Airlock Valves for Discharge, Metering and Sealing

ALWO rotary valves discharge material from dust collectors, cyclones, bunkers and pneumatic conveying systems at a controlled rate while maintaining pressure separation between process units. Rotor pockets meter the material, and the running clearances limit air leakage without creating an absolute seal.

Standard construction is galvanised steel, with stainless-steel execution available where required. For food-processing applications, materials, surface finish and cleanability are selected according to the hygiene requirements of the process.

Selection criteria

• required throughput and material bulk density;
• particle size, particle shape and the risk of jamming or shearing;
• abrasiveness, temperature and moisture;
• pressure differential and permissible air leakage;
• cleaning, wear and maintenance requirements.

Safety: the drive and rotor require guarding and lockout before intervention. A standard rotary valve must not be treated as an explosion-isolation device unless the specific configuration has been assessed and certified for that function.
