Bucket Elevator for Granular Bulk Materials

The ALWO bucket elevator is a continuous conveying system for lifting granular bulk materials vertically. Material enters the intake boot at the base, is collected by buckets attached to the belt and is discharged through the outlet below the elevator head at the required elevation.

Operating principle and drive

Bucket geometry, spacing, belt type and elevator speed are selected for the required throughput and the material being handled. Capacity depends on bulk density, particle size, moisture content, flowability and the required lifting height.

The electric gearmotor is mounted at the elevator head. The gearbox reduces motor speed to the drive-pulley speed required for the selected belt velocity. Motor power is determined from the conveying capacity, material properties, elevator height and mechanical configuration.

Project-specific installation

The elevator boot is commonly installed below floor level in a receiving pit, although the arrangement depends on the site and feeding system. Inlet, discharge, inspection access and supporting structure are coordinated with the upstream and downstream equipment.

Each elevator is sized from the process data and site conditions. For combustible dust, the enclosure, monitoring, material discharge and fire or explosion protection measures must be defined by the project risk assessment.

For technical selection, provide ALWO with the required capacity, material, bulk density, particle size, moisture content, lifting height and available layout.
