Recycling processes release dust and light material during sorting, shredding, crushing, transfer and storage. Industrial extraction captures these emissions at the equipment and transfer points before they spread through the plant.
Why extraction is important in recycling
Feed material varies in size, moisture and composition. Dust loading can change from batch to batch, and light fractions can be transported by uncontrolled air currents. Capture and separation must tolerate this variability.
Typical equipment
- hoods and enclosures at shredders, screens and sorting points;
- slot extraction at conveyor transfers and discharge points;
- ductwork sized for the expected particle and fibre load;
- cyclones or separators for coarse material;
- bag or cartridge filtration for suitable remaining dust;
- fans, gates and controls matched to active lines;
- bunkers, conveyors and valves for collected-material handling.
Variable material and safety
The input stream is reviewed for combustible dust, batteries, sparks, hot material and incompatible contaminants. Detection, separation, fire or explosion measures follow a documented risk assessment and housekeeping plan.
Energy and maintenance
Zonal capture can reduce unnecessary airflow when only part of the line operates. Wear-prone ducts, separators, filters and collection equipment need accessible inspection and cleaning.
Custom system design
ALWO evaluates material, throughput, transfer geometry and shifts before designing capture and filtration. Commissioning checks the system under representative feed conditions.
