ALWO SCRM Wet Scrubber

The ALWO SCRM wet scrubber is designed to separate compatible solid dust by bringing contaminated air into contact with water. It is intended for industrial applications in which wet collection is suitable for the particle properties and process conditions.

Applications

The unit may handle water-insoluble dust generated, for example, by the processing of certain metals, composites or resins, provided that the chemical compatibility of the dust, water and equipment materials has been verified. For hot particles or combustible dust, the solution must be selected only after an application-specific risk assessment.

Operating principle

  1. The fan draws dust-laden air from the capture point.
  2. In the separation section, the airflow passes through water curtains and particles are transferred to the liquid phase.
  3. Separated solids settle in the lower part of the water tank.
  4. Deposits are removed through the front access elements as part of routine maintenance.

Main components

  • upper section: the fan and treated-air path;
  • lower section: the wet separation area, water tank and deposit collection zone.

Selection and maintenance

Sizing must account for airflow, dust concentration and properties, pressure loss, water consumption and quality, and the method used to remove the resulting sludge. Water level, deposits, cleaning access and fan condition must be included in a periodic inspection schedule.

Safety note: a wet scrubber is not a universal solution for every dust. Water-reactive materials, dust that may generate hazardous gases, and fire or explosion hazards require a dedicated technical assessment. The discharge or return of treated air and the management of contaminated water must be determined according to the risks and requirements applicable to the installation.
