Metalworking and metallurgical processes can generate abrasive dust, welding fume, oil mist, hot gases and corrosive contaminants. Extraction equipment must be selected for the operation, material, temperature and fire or explosion risk.
Oil-mist filtration
NO MIST equipment is designed for suitable oil and emulsion aerosols released by lathes, milling machines, grinders and other machining centres. Mechanical separation and staged filter media remove droplets from the airstream, while collected liquid drains to a controlled container.
Where required by the application, a final high-efficiency or electrostatic stage can be evaluated. Filter selection and air return depend on the fluid, aerosol size, concentration and applicable exposure requirements.
Electrostatic separation
An electrostatic filter charges particles in an ionisation zone and collects them on oppositely charged plates. Performance depends on contaminant loading, cleaning frequency and electrical condition. It is selected only after compatibility and safety have been assessed.
Wet scrubbers and hydrofilters
Wet equipment brings the contaminated gas into contact with a recirculating liquid to capture suitable particles or compounds. Spray stages, liquid chemistry, droplet separation and wastewater management are engineered around the pollutant. Materials of construction must withstand the process environment.
System integration
Hoods, duct velocity, fan selection, treatment stages and material or liquid discharge are designed as one installation. Access for inspection and maintenance is especially important in abrasive or corrosive service.
