Air quality can influence comfort, concentration, housekeeping and production reliability in enclosed industrial workplaces. The effective solution is to control contaminants at source and coordinate local extraction with the building’s ventilation and air-treatment system.

Ventilation and extraction have different roles

General ventilation manages replacement air, temperature, humidity and residual contamination across the building. Local extraction captures dust, fume, mist or vapour close to the process, before it spreads. One system should not be expected to compensate for weaknesses in the other.

Air-handling units

Air-handling units can filter, heat, cool, humidify or dehumidify incoming air according to the required indoor conditions. Air volume, pressure, thermal duty and control sequences are selected from building size, occupancy, process heat and extracted-air demand.

Tower and cartridge filters

Tower filters can reduce suspended fine particles in suitable indoor applications. Cartridge filters support direct extraction of appropriate dry dust and fume. Filter media, cleaning method and material collection are selected for particle size, dust loading, moisture and any fire or explosion risk.

Performance that can be checked

Good indoor air is maintained through measured airflow, filter differential pressure, fan inspection, duct integrity and a documented maintenance plan. Commissioning establishes the baseline against which later changes can be identified.
